There are lots of people in my community who have been advocating for an asylum seeker system that starts with compassion. We know the fast track system was flawed. The government acknowledges this. It has done some things to address that, but there is more to be done, and it is time to provide certainty to the 9000 people, like the people we've heard from today who want to get on with their lives, want to make a contribution to the country, but are living in limbo. It's time that we address this.
