SUPPORT FOR BUSINESS
Small and medium businesses are the backbone of our economy - and they’re facing real challenges. Rising costs, shrinking margins, and complex regulations are making it harder to stay afloat, let alone grow.
I’m committed to supporting the 22,000 business owners in Curtin with practical solutions that balance fairness for workers with flexibility for employers.
My Priorities
To help businesses thrive, I’m focused on:
Simplifying award rates to reduce red tape and make compliance easier.
Supporting decarbonisation across industries to future-proof Australian businesses.
Expanding the instant asset write-off to help small businesses invest and grow.
Reforming tax policy to shift the burden from personal income to passive income.
Ensuring industrial relations laws are fair, clear, and workable for both employers and employees.
Delivered
I’ve taken action to support local businesses:
Produced a Support for Small Business Owners in Curtin Guide – a list of (mostly free) practical resources to support small businesses.
Put pressure on the Government to pass the instant asset write-off for FY25 in the last week of the 47th Parliament.
Advocated
Through parliamentary speeches or amendments, engaging with Ministers, Curtin submissions or media appearances, I’ve also advocated for:
Overly complex IR reforms, including the “Closing the Loopholes” bill, which added unnecessary burdens for employers.
Amendments I have introduced to limit excessive union powers and preserve workplace flexibility.
Making the instant asset write-off permanent for small businesses to encourage investment.
