Guide to government services for curtin seniors

This guide was published in June 2024 and was up to date at that time.  A major reform of the Aged Care system has taken place since then with the passing of the Aged Care Act 2024 in November 2024.  The new Support at Home program replaced the Home Care Packages Program and Short-Term Restorative Care Programme on 1 November 2025. The Commonwealth Home Support Program will transition to the new program no earlier than 1 July 2027.  Assessment for services under Support at Home is now done through a single assessment pathway.  The government have also introduced increases to the contribution older Australians will make to the cost of their care.  We are currently updating the Seniors Guide to reflect these and other changes.

Since being elected, Kate and her team have received many calls for help from older constituents and their families about the difficulties they have in navigating and seeking help from Federal government departments.

In responding to constituents' frustration, we created a Curtin Seniors’ Guide which we hope will arm you with some useful information about what help is available, who can advise you about your options, and where you can go for assistance.

Please note that all websites in this online version are linked for your convenience.

If you would like a hard copy version of the guide, feel free to pick one up from Kate’s electoral office in Floreat.
