Cleaning up politics

My Priorities

Ending hidden and harmful donations

We must eliminate secretive and unethical political donations, especially those from industries that cause social harm.

Shining a light on lobbying

Transparency around lobbying is essential. Australians should be able to see who is influencing our elected officials and how decisions are being shaped behind the scenes.

Protecting voters from lies and data harvesting

Truth in political advertising is key to a healthy democracy. Voters deserve the same protections from deception in politics as they get in business.

Cleaning Up Politics

Australians need to be confident that people in public office are held to the highest ethical standards. We expect decision-making in government to be transparent and fair. Parliamentarians should lead by example and embed the best practice standards for safe and respectful conduct in their workplace. People who seek public office must conduct transparent and honest campaigns.

DELIVERED

As your Curtin Independent MP, I’m proud to have helped deliver results for our community.

  • All politicians will have to disclose the source of larger donations in time for the 2028 election (I am the only MP to have always voluntarily disclosed donations in real-time).

  • Supported the establishment of a National Anti-Corruption Commission.

ADVOCATED

Through parliamentary speeches or amendments, engaging with Ministers, Curtin submissions or media appearances, I’ve also advocated for:

  • A range of electoral reforms with broad support in my Restoring Trust and Fair & Transparent Elections Bill, including improving transparency, reducing financial influence and levelling the playing field.

  • Greater transparency and scrutiny over the changes in the Electoral Legislation Amendments Act passed by the major parties in February 2025.  These changes embed the advantages of incumbents and major parties and were rushed through Parliament with no scrutiny.

  • Greater protections for whistleblowers with an independent Whistleblowers Authority.

  • Banning lies in political ads.
