COST OF LIVING

My Priorities

Lowering childcare costs to support working families

High childcare costs can be a barrier to employment. Affordable childcare helps close the gender gap in employment.

Reducing energy bills through household electrification and energy efficiency upgrades

Ensuring that households understand the financial opportunities and benefits of electrification.

Making university education more affordable

To lessen the burden of taking on large student loans

COST OF LIVING| My Priorities

Cost of Living Relief

Every time I’m out in Curtin, I hear from people struggling with rising costs - whether it’s groceries, rent, energy bills, or childcare. The pressure is real, and we need smart, targeted solutions that ease the burden without worsening inflation.

DELIVERED

As your Curtin Independent MP, I’m proud to have helped deliver results for our community.

I have voted to support legislation that has delivered:

  • Student debt relief for 22,500 people in Curtin.
  • 26 weeks paid parental leave, with superannuation included.
  • Halved prescription drug prices for 6 million people.
  • Paid placements for students.
  • $300 energy rebate.

ADVOCATED

Through parliamentary speeches or amendments, engaging with Ministers, Curtin submissions or media appearances, I’ve also advocated for increasing welfare payments so they are above the poverty line and decreasing the cost of university degrees.

WATCH & READ

  • Crossbench hit major parties with election demand to increase social welfare payments: Influential crossbench MPs, including Kate Chaney, have declared that raising social welfare payments will be a key condition for their support if a hung parliament occurs after this year’s federal election.
