Cost of Living Relief

Every time I’m out in Curtin, I hear from people struggling with rising costs - whether it’s groceries, rent, energy bills, or childcare. The pressure is real, and we need smart, targeted solutions that ease the burden without worsening inflation.

MY PRIORITIES

To help ease cost of living pressures, I’m focused on:

  • Lowering childcare costs to support working families

  • Reducing energy bills through household electrification and energy efficiency upgrades

  • Making university education more affordable

  • Stopping price-gouging by supermarkets, airlines, and banks through stronger competition laws

Delivered

As your Curtin Independent MP, I’m proud to have helped deliver results for our community.

I have voted on:

  • $3 billion in student debt relief for 3 million Australians

  • 26 weeks paid parental leave, with superannuation included

  • Halved prescription drug prices for 6 million people

  • $300 energy rebate - though I’ve called for better targeting to ensure support reaches those who need it most

I’ve also advocated for:

  • Increased Commonwealth Rent Assistance

  • Paid placements for students

  • Freezing medicine co-payments for all Medicare card holders

Watch & Read

  • Crossbench hit major parties with election demand to increase social welfare payments: Influential crossbench MPs, including Kate Chaney, have declared that raising social welfare payments will be a key condition for their support if a hung parliament occurs after this year’s federal election.
